//Difficult People//

Friendly Discourse on
Dealing with the Difficult Peeps
Resident Counselors: Madison & Scout

How do we love someone who doesn't know Jesus?
or someone that frankly - we just don't like?

Do you have to like someone before you can love them?

so... how do we love them? & What does God tell us to do?

Romans 12:9-10
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.

-As disciples we are called to lead others to the Lord

Luke 14:25-27
Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them and said:
"if anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, even his own life he cannot be my disciple.  And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

What does it mean to be a disciple?
In order to lead others to him, we have to first live by example. Living by example can be a very hard thing to do.  If you "talk the talk but don't walk the walk" how can you expect people to listen to you?

in order to walk the walk you may have to give up somethings in your life to go on the right path for your life...

What are some things you have had to give up or may have to give up in your life?
(volleyball, softball, possibly even friends)

What are some ways we can show love to the difficult people in our lives?

What are some things that may keep you from showing love to difficult people?
Examples: their background, their beliefs, your relationship w/them, etc...

What are some ways we can lead these people closer to God?

these are all things that we as Christians can think about.
When dealing with a difficult person try and listen to their point of view.
Put yourselves in their shoes.
Think to yourself "what is this person focusing their life on?
we have to understand the they may want to know more about Jesus but they may not know how to learn more or they may not know of Him.  others may be so focused on other things that they believe their faith is not a priority.
can you see from their point of view???

5 different people in different situations
How can we show them love?

1) A kid in your school who is popular, selfish, rude and bullies other kids.
How can we show this person love?
How can we as disciples lead them toward God?

2) A close friend who doesn't believe in God,
someone who will not listen to you about God or believes in something you do not
How can we show this person love?
How can we as disciples lead them toward God?

3) A complete stranger we see walking down the street
How can we show this person love?
How can we as disciples lead them toward God?

4) A partner (boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, etc...) who knows you believe in God            but is not interested themselves.
How can we show this person love?
How can we as disciples lead them toward God?

5) A classmate or coworker who you don't get along with.
How can we show this person love?
How can we as disciples lead them toward God?
